Barbara PlomerSEVILLA
Seville, bathed by the mythical waters of the river Guadalquivir, has long been the inspiration of writers and composers alike. It is hardly surprising. Few cities in the world are as beautiful as the capital of Andalusia. Its art, landscapes, architecture, light, colour and people combine to create a singular, magical place; quite unlike any other. Wander the narrow streets of Santa Cruz, enjoy the beautiful Moorish architecture and bask in the beautiful light of the city. Can you smell the faint aroma of cigars in the air?

Barbara PlomerMALLORCA
There is no greater source of pride for the new generations of Mallorcans than their landscape and their 554 kilometres of coast.Mallorca's landscapes are so varied as to enthral the human eye. From the long sandy beaches of the southeast, crowned by the paradisiacal Es Trenc, to the cliffs that profile the Serra de Tramuntana, the island's landscape is one of the aspects still given short shrift by those who have succumbed to the stereotyped image of sunshine, pool, sunbed and nothing else.

Barbara PlomerFor example, the whole Serra de Tramuntana - the mountain range that runs the length of the island from north to south, hugging the sea and filling the horizon with an unparalleled play of colour - enjoys maximum environmental protection. Spectacular as the coast is, it would be unjust to forget the interior of Mallorca, an environment which, having largely escaped tourist development possesses a singular charm.

CLIMATE: In Mallorca the average annual temperature is 20o C (68oF). Winters are mild and summer’s, very warm.

GETTING THERE: Regular direct flights from all major UK airports from May to October. .

A great destination for both meetings and incentives. Also great for golfers.

Barbara PlomerIBIZA
It is hard to imagine that the party island of Ibiza actually has a history. However, man’s presence here (which with neighbouring Formentera forms the Pitiusa islands, from the Greek, meaning “pines”) goes back as far as the Bronze Age. In the 8th century the islands became the most Eastern point of Al-Andalus, or Islam Spain. In more recent times, its clear waters and fine beaches, together with its nightlife, have made the island a leisure paradise.

Barbara PlomerCLIMATE: Off the Mediterranean coast of Valencia, Ibiza enjoys fine weather from April through to November.

GETTING THERE: There are direct flights to the island from most major airports between the summer months of May and September.

ACCOMMODATION: Ibiza is a very popular holiday destination attracting some top end clients. Consequently, the island boasts some very fine hotels, from resort based establishments to very fashionable 5-star exclusive retreats, such as Na Xamena.

Barbara PlomerBILBAO
The Basque Country is a type of confederation in which each of the three Historic Territories, Araba (Alava in Spanish), Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, has its own administration and legislative body. Vitoria-Gasteiz is the capital of Alava, Bilbao the capital of Bizkaia (Vizcaya) and Donostia-San Sebastián the capital of Gipuzkoa (Guipúzcoa). At present, more than 2 million people live in the Basque Country, giving a figure of around 300 inhabitants per square kilometre, higher than the EC average. Most people live in the larger urban areas in the northern zone (Bilbao & its surrounding area has approximately 700 000 inhabitants).

Barbara PlomerCLIMATE: Set in one of the world’s more temperate zones, the Basque Country has a wonderfully mild climate with few extremes of temperature. The climate, the influence of the sea, and an attractive mixture of villages, mountains, hills and abundant greenery (due to its plentiful rain), all make the Basque Country a place of natural surprises.

GETTING THERE: Bilbao has an international airport that operates flights to all major cities in Spain as well as other international airports in the UK (London Heathrow, Stanstead), Ireland (Dublin), Germany (Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hannover, Frankfurt, Stuttgart), Belgium (Brussels), France (Paris), Italy (Milan, Rome) and Portugal (Lisbon).

ACCOMMODATION: Bilbao has a wide range of hotels of all categories. Perhaps the most striking in the city is the Gran Hotel Domine, an ultra-modern hotel created by the one of Spain's most famous designers, Javier Mariscal, and located opposite the Guggenheim Museum.

Barbara PlomerGASTRONOMY: The cultural life of the Basque Country is blossoming and is one of the main driving forces behind the development of this society. Since the inauguration of the Guggenheim Museum in 1997 Bilbao has had a complete renaissance. Basque cooking enjoys a reputation for being one of the best cuisines in the world. It is traditional cooking based on the quality of local products and their simple preparation. Another of the curiosities of Basque cooking are the "pinchos" or "tapas", small portions served in most bars and restaurants.

FACTOR 3 SAYS
A novel destination with a great future and a personality of its own!
